Delete your OneWeave account

App: OneWeave · Developer: OneWeave Technologies Ltd
Last updated: 31 July 2026

This page explains how to ask us to delete your OneWeave account (the app published on Google Play by OneWeave Technologies Ltd), and exactly which data we delete, which data we must keep, and for how long.

1. Before you request deletion

OneWeave is a shared-money app, so a deletion affects more than your own phone. Please do these first, because deleting your account does not move money for you:

Deleting your account is not reversible from the app. Once it is done you can no longer sign in on any device, and the same phone number cannot simply be used to log back in to the old account. Restoring an account is a manual support operation and we cannot guarantee it.

2. How to request deletion

Send us a deletion request by email. We verify that the request really came from the account holder before we delete anything. That check is what stops someone else deleting your account and your group’s money records.

  1. Email privacy@oneweave.app Use the subject line Delete my account. The button below opens your mail app with the message already filled in.
  2. Tell us which account Include the phone number registered on your OneWeave account in international format (for example +2348012345678), and the name on the account.
  3. Confirm it’s you We reply within 2 business days and send a one-time code by SMS to that registered number. Reply with the code to confirm the request.
  4. We close the account As soon as you confirm, we deactivate the account: every device is signed out, all access tokens and passkeys stop working, push notifications stop, and the account can no longer sign in.
  5. We erase what the law allows, and confirm Within 30 days we delete every piece of your data that is not part of a record Nigerian financial law requires us to keep, and email you to confirm what was erased and what had to be retained. Section 3 sets out exactly where that line falls.

Email a deletion request

No mail app? Send the same details to privacy@oneweave.app from any email address, or use You → Contact us inside the OneWeave app. You can request deletion even if you have already uninstalled the app.

3. What is deleted, and what we must keep

Please read this section before you request deletion. OneWeave moves money, so we cannot erase everything on request. Nigerian law requires financial records, and the identity records attached to them, to be kept for years after an account closes. Deleting your account closes it and removes your access; it does not wipe your transaction history.

Immediately, once you confirm

Your account is deactivated: every device is signed out, all session tokens and passkeys stop working, push notifications stop, you can no longer sign in, and other members can no longer open your profile or see your contact details.

Deleted within 30 days

Everything below is data we hold to run the app, not to satisfy a legal record, so we erase it in full:

Kept for at least 6 years after the account closes

OneWeave is a financial service, and our licensed banking partner, who actually holds the funds, is a regulated institution. Nigeria’s AML/CFT rules for financial institutions, together with financial record-keeping and tax obligations, require the records below to be retained for a minimum period measured from the end of the relationship. We cannot delete them at your request, and neither can our partner. A deletion request does not override a statutory retention duty.

During that period these records are held for compliance only. We do not use them to contact you, we do not use them for marketing, and access is restricted to staff who need it for a legal or regulatory purpose. At the end of the retention period they are deleted or anonymized.

Data we never store in the first place

A note about your groups

Money you already contributed to a group, and payouts already made from it, stay in that group’s financial history. A group Purse is a shared record that belongs to all of its members and to our banking partner’s books, so we cannot rewrite it when one member leaves. Your profile stops being visible in the app (other members can no longer see your contact details or open your profile), but the contributions themselves remain in the group’s history, and the compliance record described above is retained behind the scenes, out of reach of the app.

4. If you don’t want to delete everything

5. Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent, subject to the retention obligations described above. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy. If you are unhappy with how we handled your request, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
